Hopefully you managed it as a similar lick today, Wordlers. This left only two possible answers, but as I didn't think VROOM was a legitimate option, I played BROOM. Brilliantly, everything but the 'G' turned green. I'm always suspicious when a single vowel goes green that quickly, and I quickly got it into my head that this would be a double-O special, as I couldn't see anywhere to fit a 'U'. In the end, I opted for SMORE which turned the 'O' green, ruled out 'E' and gave me an additional yellow letter in the form of 'M'. But I was somewhat fenced in by the two yellow letters that I needed to try elsewhere. TRACE and CRATE would have reduced it to 60, while CRONE would have cut it to just 32.Īs per usual, I wanted to test the most common letter in the game - E - on my second turn. In fact, after my first turn, I had 146 answers remaining.īetter alternatives would have more than halved that. Very sorry about that - I shall triple-check every section going forward.Īnyway, onto today's puzzle: a straightforward answer with a sneaky double letter that might trip you up if you don't use one of the best Wordle start words.įor me, that's RATIO as per usual, and it was reasonably helpful today, revealing a yellow 'R' and 'O'.īut, as those are two of the most common letters in the game - appearing in hundreds of answers each - it didn't reduce the number of possible solutions by as much as I'd have liked. A quick apology before I begin today's column: for a brief time yesterday, the clues section contained intelligence for the previous day's puzzle. Reading this in a later time zone? The Wordle answer for game #691 was BROOM. I'll see you tomorrow for the first weekend Wordle. I typed it in, and was left licking my wounds after a six-turn win. "SLACK wasn’t the right answer this time, but it’s exactly what I would’ve guessed in this situation," WordleBot says, by way of consolation.įortunately, with one turn left, there was only one possible answer: SNACK. "You’ve narrowed it down to only two words: SLACK or SNACK." "Excellent choice - SMACK is exactly what I would’ve picked in this situation," says WordleBot. Unfortunately, with three turns left, I was about to try all of them.įirst up: SMACK. I was correct: SHACK reduced the number of possible answers to just three. Knowing there were no more vowels to play, and not really seeing the opportunity for another 'A' in the mix, I decided today's Wordle answer probably ended in 'ACK'. On the bright side, both 'S' and 'A' went green, so I was definitely moving in the right direction. I did that with SUAVE which I was pretty pleased with. I wanted to test my two remaining vowels while keeping 'A' in the mix. CRANE, however, would have been phenomenally lucky, leaving just two possible answers. SLATE would have left 30 possible solutions, while SLANT would have cut that down to just nine. Words starting with 'S' did particularly well today. With its single yellow 'A', that left 219 possible answers remaining. I began today's puzzle with my usual choice of the best Wordle start words: RATIO. Not because it was an especially tough word, but because I left myself in a situation where I had four green letters and loads of possible remaining options for the one gray spot. So, what is today's Wordle answer for game #692?
